  • NABRE: Solomon became the father of Rehoboam, Rehoboam the father of Abijah, Abijah the father of Asaph.
  • NJB: Solomon fathered Rehoboam, Rehoboam fathered Abijah, Abijah fathered Asa,
  • KJV: And Solomon begat Roboam; and Roboam begat Abia; and Abia begat Asa;
  • Differences worth noting: NJB and KJV both have Asa, here, who is the actual successor. Asaph is a psalmist. The footnotes in NABRE note that this insertion may have been deliberate. I’m going to leave the text as it is, and not correct the genealogy. I assume Matthew knew what he was doing, and did it for a good reason. (:
